Spinal lumbar dI2 interneurons contribute to stability of bipedal stepping

چکیده
Peripheral and intraspinal feedback is required to shape update the output of spinal networks that execute motor behavior. We report lumbar dI2 interneurons in chicks receive synaptic input from afferents premotor neurons. These innervate contralateral brachial cord, their ascending projections cerebellum. findings suggest neurons function as local circuits, are involved lumbo-brachial coupling, part them deliver peripheral Silencing leads destabilized stepping P8 hatchlings, with occasional collapses, variable step profiles a wide-base walking gait, suggesting may contribute stabilization bipedal gait.

Preferred locomotor phase of activity of lumbar interneurons during air-stepping in subchronic spinal cats.
Spinal locomotor circuits are intrinsically capable of driving a variety of behaviors such as stepping, scratching, and swimming. Based on an observed rostrocaudal wave of activity in the motoneuronal firing during locomotor tasks, the traveling-wave hypothesis proposes that spinal interneuronal firing follows a similar rostrocaudal pattern of activation, suggesting the presence of spatially or...
متن کاملPopulation spatiotemporal dynamics of spinal intermediate zone interneurons during air-stepping in adult spinal cats.
The lumbar spinal cord circuitry can autonomously generate locomotion, but it remains to be determined which types of neurons constitute the locomotor generator and how their population activity is organized spatially in the mammalian spinal cord. In this study, we investigated the spatiotemporal dynamics of the spinal interneuronal population activity in the intermediate zone of the adult mamm...
متن کاملSpinal Hb9::Cre-derived excitatory interneurons contribute to rhythm generation in the mouse
Rhythm generating neurons are thought to be ipsilaterally-projecting excitatory neurons in the thoracolumbar mammalian spinal cord. Recently, a subset of Shox2 interneurons (Shox2 non-V2a INs) was found to fulfill these criteria and make up a fraction of the rhythm-generating population. Here we use Hb9::Cre mice to genetically manipulate Hb9::Cre-derived excitatory interneurons (INs) in order ...
متن کاملPhysiology and morphology indicate that individual spinal interneurons contribute to diverse limb movements.
Overlapping neuronal networks have been shown to generate a variety of behaviors or motor patterns in invertebrates, but the evidence for this is more circumstantial in vertebrates. The turtle spinal cord can produce multiple forms of hindlimb scratching movements as well as hindlimb withdrawal, but it is still uncertain whether individual spinal cord interneurons contribute to the motor output...
